The Top Nine Mosaic Murals in San Francisco:
An historical survey...

1999-2001
THE FLOWER INSIDE US GROWS
150 Otis Street MUNI Stop
By Susan Cervantes, Peter Carpou and Carolyna Marks

A beautiful 5 ft. x 65 ft. mosaic and painted tile sidewalk that truly represents the cooperation and hard work of over 200 diverse people. The sidewalk mural was created in many sections that were transported to the site for installation. This extensive project was a collaboration between Larkin St. Youth Services, Precita Eyes Mural Arts Center, and World Walls for Peace.  It is significant because it is the first public sidewalk installation successfully implemented in the City of San Francisco. The design depicts flowers and trees symbolizing the four elements, non-violence and peace. For more details go to www.precitaeyes.org. Unglazed porcelain tile, hand-painted tiles.
